IMP: (long) intro to my latest sallyTV project

I'm big into home projects, especially things involving sewing. Draperies and the like are fun, but my favorite thing to sew will always be pillows. It's an inexpensive and fun way to switch things up around the house... and they also make great gifts.

For awhile I was a huge fan of a book called Simple Pillows by Katrin Cargill. But it's too traditional and I grew bored of it.

Attack of the Yawns

When I was involved with the STOREROOM back in December, Chronicle Books was one of the vendors we had in the store. I had always known and liked Chronicle, but until I then I hadn't spent a lot of time researching and going through the books they published. After learning about all the different books they published I was convinced that they were my favorite design (and OTHER things!) publisher (take that, Phaidon!). I check-in with their site from time to time to see what new releases they have out. They're also based right here in San Francisco, so that gives them 1,000,000 more cool points.

Old vs New

Recently I discovered a book they publish called The Pillow Book. It's by a lovely lady named Shannon Okey and it's JUST DELIGHTFUL. All of the pillows are great for today's home.

These pillows SPEAK TO ME!

I've decided to start a new sallyTV project. I am going to create and document every pillow pattern in the book. And I'm going to do it by my birthday, March 18th. I'm going to make two versions of the same pillow for each project. One that follows the directions completely, and another one that is my variation (this will probably just be a different type of fabric).

I'm really excited!

Ooh, fun! :) I borrowed Ryan's sewing machine but have yet to use it. Where are you getting your fabrics?
